7 Best Hang Out Places In Eldoret

Flowers and trees at Sergoit View Gardens

If you are searching for places to hang out in Eldoret I got you covered.

I have been in Eldoret for more than 3 years while studying there.

So, I have moved around in search of cool places to chill. I have gathered several areas that are super cool.

Eldoret doesn’t have many incredible areas to spend your day in since nothing is usually going on in this town.

Sometimes it can get super boring, it’s not like when you are in Nairobi or Mombasa.

But if you manage to take your time and visit the places I am about to list down for you, they are hidden gems — you will find an incredible way of spending your day hanging out there.

These are the best hang-out places in Eldoret;

1. Lobo Village.

Lobo Village is one of the Hidden gems in Eldoret — it offers a spacious hanging-out place that will blow your mind.

It’s located 9.3 kilometers from Eldoret Town, which is about 17 17-minute drive to get to Lobo Village.

When you reach the Kapsaret fly-over roundabout, it’s located a few minutes to the left side.

It’s wide open along A8 North Road. You can’t miss it.

I have been to Lobo Village several times, and what I can tell you is that the place gets better as time goes by.

Soon it’s going to be one of the top hanging out places in Eldoret because it just has so much to offer.

The main reason I highly rate Lobo Village it’s because of the following things;

  • It’s easily accessible within Eldoret.
  • The place has a huge hiking space.
  • There is no entrance fee to get into Lobo Village.
  • There are games to play like archery.
  • There is a big man-made lake where you can ride a boat.
  • It has amazing designated sitting spots that are free from distractions.
  • They have affordable meals for someone who is exploring Eldoret on a budget.
  • Amazing areas for taking videos and photos.

The above are just a few of the reasons I recommend you to visit Lobo Village and chill out there.

The place is incredible if you just want an area to chill and clear your head.

You can either go alone to Lobo Village or bring your family or friends.

Some tents are arranged straight with sofas inside. They make the area look fantastic and give you a feel that you are in a super fancy area.

Whenever I went to Lobo Village I preferred sitting close to the lake just watching the lake and seeing people driving the boats.

Though there is no entrance fee at Lobo Village, you will still have to pay for the activities.

You will pay Ksh 200 for horse riding and Ksh 300 for a boat ride around the man-made lake.

I have talked about so many positive things about this location but it’s not always this great.

If you are someone like me who prefers to hang out in an area with minimal noise pollution, you aren’t going to enjoy chilling there during the weekends.

During the weekends Lobo Village is usually filled with many people within and outside of Eldoret.

With many people around the area, it means it will hardly be silent.

To add another fact that annoyed me during my last visit is that during the weekends they play super loud music.

If you want a piece and quiet environment to just clear your head and connect with nature, it will be nearly impossible during the weekends.

Unless you visit Lobo Village during the weekdays if you don’t want the distraction I’m talking about here.

It’s usually super calm during the weekdays and you will have the entire place for yourself to hang out.

2. Poa Place Resort.

Another amazing place to hang out in Eldoret is the Poa Place Resort.

Poa Place is one of the popular resorts within Eldoret that is known for its many incredible activities to offer.

Most people visit Poa Place because of the nature and cultural center.

At Poa Place Resort, you have the chance to see the animals and explore and learn about the culture of different tribes.

Apart from that, this place has a super wide area where you can hang out with your friends or family.

Poa Place Resort is located 4.5 km away from Eldoret Town Centre along Eldoret-Nakuru Road, which is a 12-minute drive.

The area is easily accessible with Google Maps because it’s just on the left side of the road as you are heading north away from the town.

Now, let me dive deeper and tell you why I recommend Poa Place Resort as one of the best hang-out places in Eldoret.

The first reason why I recommend the place is because it’s super calm — you are sheltered from the noises of the main road by the trees surrounding the area.

If you enter the resort, you will have to keep walking a few meters, which means you will keep moving far away from the main road.

The place can offer you a piece and quiet environment to hang out.

The place I recommend is the area around the restaurant. It has so many seats and umbrellas to protect you from the sun.

The area is well-kept and it offers so many services like SPA, barbershop, and massage if you are interested.

You can just chill around the umbrellas and get a cup of coffee as you clear your head.

If you are tired, you can just walk out of the restaurant area and head to the swimming pool.

You will have to pay Ksh 150 to use the swimming pool. If you have kids there is a big children’s park where you can let them play around.

3. Tamasha Lounge.

A man taking a selfie outside of Tamasha Lounge in Eldoret UASIN Gishu

Tamasha Lounge is another great hanging out spot in Eldoret that is located around Eldoret National Polytechnic just along Eldoret-Kisumu Road.

When you hear the word lounge, you can conclude that the place is more of a bar.

That’s where you are wrong, Tamasha Lounge offers so many services — it will be hard for you to notice a bar.

You can wash your car at Tamasha Lounge, get some drinks, get a meal, get a barbershop and so many other services.

The place has a modern feel that makes it seem quite luxurious from the outside.

But if your intention is just to get a drink and chill at Tamasha Lounge for the day, you will have so many spots to choose from.

When you enter Tamasha Lounge, on the left side you will see so many chairs and umbrellas, that’s where you can get your drinks and meals.

This is one of the best sections that I have always had my eyes on.

Tamasha is a great place to hang out but it doesn’t have a big ground to walk around.

It’s not like Lobo Village and Poa Place Resort. You will be locked in one area — maybe you stretch your legs a little bit farther and walk around the sherehe district.

That’s where most of the music events are hosted.

During the weekend Tamasha Lounge is usually full of people. The entire parking area is usually so full of cars.

Most people visit Tamasha Lounge during the weekend because of the music events. People go there to party and drink.

But the music events usually start late at night, so if you go during the day you will have an amazing time if you aren’t a party person.

Just like Poa Place Resort and Lobo Village, you don’t have to pay an entrance fee to get into Tamasha Lounge.

They know you are going to spend money as long as you are in for a considerable amount of time.

4. Kesses Dam.

Another epic hanging-out place in Eldoret I recommend you visit is Kesses Dam.

The area is termed a dam because there is a man-made lake around there.

Most people visit this area because of the dam that was created there. I can’t say it’s more of a dam because it’s not that big.

The area around the dam is incredible to hang out in since it’s well-kept and spacious.

You can walk around the area surrounding the dam and take some videos and photos.

I can’t lie to you the area is so colorful, calm, and clean.

Its location is a little bit far from the main road — the air is clean and fresh and the area is so calm.

The view of the place is just incredible. Most people visit Kesses Dam because of the spectacular view they get there.

We all love great views and that is why we love areas with large water bodies.

Kesses Dam is quite far from Eldoret Town, it’s 39 Km from the CBD, a drive of about an hour to get there.

If you are to use a matatu from Eldoret Town, you will roughly spend about Ksh 200 to get there.

You should expect to pay an entrance fee to enter Kesses Dam. The last time I visited I only paid Ksh 20 for the entrance ticket.

I recommend you carry your snacks and drinks because you won’t be able to see a shop or a restaurant around that area.

There are not many sitting areas and umbrellas compared to the other places I have talked about in this article.

Don’t forget to carry a piece of clothes you can lay on the ground to sit on. There is a shade facing the dam but it’s likely going to be occupied if you go late in the afternoon.

So, it’s better to be prepared in case you don’t find a place to sit down and relax.

At Kesses Dam, the only activity you can do is boat riding, for which you will have to pay about Ksh 200 for the ride.

You can also climb the tower that will give you an extensive few of the Dam.

I went to the top of the tower to take some pictures and enjoy the breeze and view for some minutes before I left.

5. Kolol Riverside Resort.

Another great place to chill that you can visit in Uasin Gishu is Kolol Riverside Resort.

From the word riverside, the resort is located around the river.

Which means it has a spectacular view that will leave you blown away.

Kolol Riverside Resort is very far from Eldoret town. It’s located in the Kipkorogot area.

It’s a drive of about 11 Km from Eldoret Town, which is a 23-minute drive to get there.

The first time I went to Kolol Riverside Resort, I hiked the entire way there.

It was a great way to see the other side of Uasin Gishu County. Remember, I am from Mombasa, it was just a marvelous view for me to explore the county this way.

I don’t recommend you do the same if you don’t have the stamina for the hike.

The resort is a little bit hidden from the main road. But when you are around the area you will see a sign that shows you the route you should take.

When you see the sign on the side of the road you just have to follow the route via the gate.

At one point I thought I was going to someone’s compound. A few meters as I kept walking straight following Google Maps I finally found the spot.

If you aren’t sure which routes to take just ask the people you will come across from the area. But you can’t get lost because it’s just a straight path to follow to the resort.

Kolol Riverside Resort entrance fee is Ksh 100. When you reach the gate you will find a reception where you will pay and be given a ticket.

On side Kolol Riverside Resort there are restaurants and hotels that you can book if you are planning to spend a night there.

As I told you earlier, the place is so close to the river that you can see sitting from the tree house.

You can walk around the resort, and hang out at the shades they have and the small ground that is close to the river.

It’s a perfect place for a date since it’s very serene and quite romantic. You can get outside of the resort and walk along the river.

You will also find amazing chilling spots there too. The only thing I loved about Kolol Riverside Resort was the fact that I could get access to the river.

The downside of Kolol is that the drinks and meals are super expensive for a budget traveler.

I recommend you carry your drinks and snacks if you just want to chill around the river and you have no plans to enter the restaurant.

I remember the only drink I bought when I entered the restaurant was a small bottle of soda which cost me Ksh 150.

The same bottle of Soda, you can get it at Ksh 50 outside of the resort.

The place is just incredible for the people who want to hang out, walk along the river, and enjoy the beautiful view of the river from the tree house.

6. Sergoit View Gardens.

Hanging out areas at Sergoit View Gardens

Sergoit View Gardens is another amazing hanging-out place that is located 21 Km from Eldoret Town.

To get there you have to take the route that takes you to Iten, when you reach Moiben Junction Centre you take the C50 route.

When I was visiting the place, when I was dropped at Moiben Junction Centre I decided to walk to Sergoit View Gardens.

It was quite a long hike but that is how I usually like to get to places especially when I know nothing about the area.

The road to Sergoit is very incredible — far away you will just see a big hill (Sergoit Hill) in front of you filled with so many trees.

It’s one of the best hiking roads I have ever seen in Uasin Gishu County.

Around this area, it feels like you are completely in a different country. The landscapes are amazing and the roads are well-kept compared to the roads in Eldoret Town.

I recommend you just walk to  Sergiot View Gardens if you want to experience what I am talking about.

When you finally get to Sergoit View Gardens, you still be able to see the Hill.

The view of the hill gives this place an incredible feel very different from the rest of the locations I have shared in this article.

You don’t have to pay an entrance fee to enter Sergiot View Gardens, but they don’t allow people to carry drinks and food in.

It’s free to enter but since they don’t allow food and drinks in you will have no choice but to spend money there.

Before I get lost in the details, let me describe to you how I was blown away by this beautiful spot in Uasin Gishu County.

They weren’t wrong to call it a garden because it was surrounded by so many trees and there were flowers all over the area.

The flowers around the garden just made this place incredibly beautiful.

The area has a lot of designated sitting areas with shades. There are some swings if you are a fan.

I remember that was the first area I went to hang out when I visited the place.

I sat on the swing for a while before I started walking around the garden while filming.

The area is so chill and calm. I fell in love with how they designed the entire area. It looks colorful and it gave me a feeling that people usually book this place to host weddings and birthday events.

You can hang out at Sergoit View Gardens while enjoying the cool breeze from Sergiot Hill.

They have an amazing restaurant around where you can get an amazing meal. I paid Ksh 250 for a Spanish Omlate.

7. Caesar’s Waterfront Resort.

A path at Caesar's Waterfront Resort

Caesar’s Waterfront Resort is another hang-out place you should visit after Sergoit Views Garden.

Caesar’s is located 31 Km away from Eldoret Town. That is a 49-minute drive.

The day I visited Sergoit View Gardens I connected to Caesar’s because I knew I was close to the resort.

It took me a few minutes with a motorcycle to the area.

The area is called a Waterfront because it’s just in front of Chebara Dam or you can call it Lake Caesar.

The place is quite far from Eldoret town but it’s one of the amazing hanging out places I have ever been in Eldoret.

The place has an amazing view that is offered by the lake. Some seats are placed in front of the dam to give the guests this incredible view.

The time I visited the resort I saw people fishing around the lake.

There is a bar and a restaurant in the resort where you can get drinks and enjoy amazing meals.

As you keep walking around the resort you will come across designated shades that are transparent thus allowing even those who are inside to enjoy the view of the lake.

The best location I would recommend you find a table and sit is in front of the lake.

Something that I didn’t like about Caesar’s Waterfront Resort was the loud music. That might have been something bad for me, but you may end up liking it.

Anyway, I guess it’s because I visited the place during the weekend — there were so many people chilling around the resort.

Apart from that, the place is just incredible for hanging out alone, with friends or family.

One of the activities I was told you can do at Caesar’s Waterfront Resort is boat riding which on my budget was too expensive.

I was told it was Ksh 5000 to ride the boats around the dam. It’s not worth it to spend all that money on a single boat ride if you are traveling around Uasin Gishu on a tight budget.

Lastly…

Eldoret has a lot of incredible places to hang out, the ones I have listed in this article are the locations I have been able to explore.

These are amazing areas that will give you what you are searching for.

The best area I recommend you visit if you just want to chill and have fun with your friends is the Lobo Village.

But if you want some adventures — a little bit of a trip to get there, Sergoit, Kolol, and Caesar’s seem the best place for you to visit.

All these hang-out places I have listed here are for budget travelers, you don’t have to worry about spending so much money on the locations.

I hope you enjoy hanging out in these places. Let me know what you think of these places in the comment section.
